Today has been a super busy day, so this going to be a short post.
I spent all day decorating a 20 ft. Christmas Tree at work with “the dream team” (i.e. the decorating committee lol). It was so much fun but so much hard work.
I got scratched, cut, my feet hurt and I got a cramp in my butt (I didn’t even know that was possible)!
But while we were getting things together I started to reflect. See the initial plan for the tree didn’t work out as expected so we had to come up with a plan B. It went from a 2 man team to a 10 man team.
We had to unravel and spread about 50 individual garlans, string them with lights, and decorate them with ornaments. Yeah it sounds simple enough, I know. It wasn’t until we actually started that we realized the amount of work that was ahead of us. (Stay tuned for pictures)
By midday, we were ready to give up but we pushed on. And by the time we got all the pieces up, the finished product was worth it.
It was in standing out there looking up at our work in progress that I realize it.
In order to get the finished product, you have to work on all the individual pieces. You can’t do it all at once but if you stay the course and work on each item, in the end you will have a beautiful masterpiece. Sometimes in life our Plan A doesn’t work and we get depressed or discouraged not realizing that in Plan B is where the real beauty lies.
Plan B teaches us patience, how to adapt when things don’t turn out right, our own creativity, and that endurance is what wins the race!
